浪花のルーツを辿る、大阪「歴史探訪」ツアー

This enlightening 6-hour tour will give you a valuable chance to “experience the history of Osaka” through visiting the renowned Osaka Castle, Osaka Museum of History, and Kamigata Ukiyoe(woodblock prints) Museum and exploring their environs, including Dotonbori., a mecca for food travelers in Osaka.

Escaping the ravages of numerous wars and casualties, this magnificent Osaka Castle with stone walls and moats from the Edo period is recognized as Important Cultural Properties by the national government. Osaka Castle Park, which opened in 1931, is a majestic urban oasis with the changing seasonal views--about 95 kinds of Japanese apricot flowers, 1,250 trees in total bloom in Ume Grove, and beautiful autumn colored leaves in Grove of Remembrance. As a place of recreation and relaxation, it attracts hundreds of visitors throughout the year.

Osaka Museum of History will give you a glimpse of the history of Osaka(4 periods) through the life-size reconstructions, scale models, and movies. The diorama on the 7th floor shows the life of the warring period lord who unified Japan, Hideyoshi Toyotomi, and the miniature figures and the panoramic screens on the 5th floor show the scenes from the folding screen depicting the Summer War of Osaka. Five programs in series about Osaka Castle are shown on the screen with subtitles in English at the Theater Room on the 1st floor.

Enjoy a tour of "the Water City" in the Edo Period Zone with your guide, the Bunraku puppet "Naniwaya." There the bustling town life is presented in 1/20th scale miniature models. You can also try on a helmet, surcoat and kosode kimono, and have your photograph taken!

Doutonbori is well-known for Kuidaore, a Japanese word meaning “to ruin oneself by extravagance in food.” This spot is one of the most popular destinations for food travelers in Japan.

Kamigata Ukiyoe Museum has an exclusive exhibit of Osaka prints from the Edo Period Vincent Van Gogh, a connoisseur of Japanese prints, owned a collection of more than 400 pieces including some from Kamigata, and The British Museum also has a collection of Ukiyoe prints. The making of these world-famous woodblock prints required many craftsmen such as the drawer, the wooden board maker, the wood engraver and the printer. Here you can find the new printing technique in Kamigata, Nishikie, which is characterized by the use of a wide range of beautiful colors.
